Position Summary

The Instrumentation & Controls Technician installs, tests, calibrates, and maintains industrial instrumentation and control systems used in construction projects, to support the safe, accurate, and reliable operation of equipment and processes on industrial construction job sites.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of industrial control systems, field instrumentation, and electrical fundamentals
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, control schematics, and specifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Experience/Education/Other 

  • Technical degree or certification in instrumentation, controls, or electrical systems preferred
  • OSHA safety training preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Experience in industrial instrumentation and controls within construction environments
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Essential Functions Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.  The Company considers the functions listed here as essential to performance of the job duties.  

  • Install, terminate, and test field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level devices
  • Install and support control systems, including wiring to panels, junction boxes, and equipment
  • Perform loop checks, point‑to‑point testing, and system commissioning
  • Read and follow construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics
  • Calibrate instruments using appropriate test equipment and document results
  • Troubleshoot instrument and control system issues and make necessary repairs
  • Work closely with electricians, engineers, supervisors, and project managers to meet schedule requirements
  • Follow all site safety rules, company policies, and quality standards
  • Maintain clear and accurate job documentation, test records, and punchlist items
  • May work inside or outside, in environments that may be hot/cold/wet, varying elevations and heights, etc.
  • Repetitive movement, including but not limited to, squatting, standing, bending, walking, climbing steps, stairs and ladders, lift tools and materials, etc.
  • Must be able to walk on both level and unlevel surfaces, and use hands to feel/operate tools, objects, controls, etc.
  • May be exposed to fumes, flashing light, sparks, flames
